The Future Of V Planet!
(11/12/2004) V Planet! Editor Nekrophidius discusses the future of V Planet! and pending changes being made to the website.

Playing catch-up with updates!

Ah, yes. I can still remember the conversations that ensued between the forums, through email, and over messengers. V Planet was looking for a new direction: to be taken to a land of bountiful updates and fresh game reviews. So they all thought long and hard about who would become the new editor of the site, and I was chosen. At first, I had plenty of time to do this, but then, things became very very busy and I found my free time slipping away faster than sand through the hourglass.

Fast-forward to the present: V Planet's back, and for good. And with its return brings many new changes as well. They won't be visible at first, but will fall into place during the next few months.

The first order of business is the reconstruction of the website itself. This has been tossed around for a few months now, but nothing solid has ever come of it. However, a new database is in the works at the present time, and will drive V Planet's new incarnation. In addition, a new look is heading this way, and it should be ready soon. Also, V Planet has acquired its own domain name, and it should be live in a couple of days.

The second order of business is the V Planet staff. There have been many good people here at V Planet over the years who have kept this site alive. However, many of them have moved on to other things now, and there are many positions waiting to be filled by new members of the QB community. Therefore, over the next month, the staff list will be streamlined and new positions will be up for grabs.

The third order of business involves V Planet updates. Here's where I've recently been guilty of not fulfilling my own duties here at V Planet due to lack of time. However, I do hereby declare that I will begin to provide the QB community with the kind of update schedule that V Planet viewers had come to know during its golden age, and all of us here at V Planet will work hard to bring V Planet into its second golden age.

The fourth and final order of business involves V Planet software development. This is mainly in Vance's hands right now, but he has some great project ideas which would be shameful to let go of. Hopefully we'll be able to see some of these through, and I'll offer what I can to their development.

So fear not, fellow V Planet for our beloved little V Planet is on the way. Expect to see some big changes very shortly, and watch out for the opening of new staff positions here at V Planet. Remember as well: it's you, the V Planet viewer, that makes this all worthwhile...we're nothing without your support. Let's all help keep the QB community alive!
