QB45 Moves to QB45.net/org
(3/12/2003) After having to move from it's .com domain, QB45 finds a new home, but is in need of financial support.

Because it's temporarily moved to an .org domain, the name has switched from "qb45.com" to "qb45".

Sometimes, having one of the best sites that has ever been available somewhere is better than having no site available at all. This is the case for QB45. Once called QB45.com after dropping the Future Software name, the huge download site was forced to shut down it's .com domain after encountering data troubles. Truetech.net, QB45's webhost, showed the following message on their site:

"I am sorry to report that QB45.com may be down for a good while. James and his people have had a mix up of information, and there may have a full loss of site data. Please stay in touch for more information, and check TrueDeveloper for more details."

As a major hub for programmers, gamers, and newcomers to the QB language, QB45 isn't going down without a fight. In an effort to keep the QB45 website alive, current webmaster Jason Earl and a group of programmers registered the domains QB45.net and QB45.org.

"QB45.COM is registered to the Truetech guys now, so I have got QB45.NET and QB45.ORG registered along with some free hosting with the help of various people. The hosting we are on is temporary, and won't last long. It will do until we develop a plan for long term funding and hosting. However, the site will not experience any downtime now, and when we move servers the transition will be seamless, no long days of downtime," says Jason.

Both URLs currently re-direct to http://qb45.tonez-online.com/home/pn/index.php, where the files in QB45.com have been moved. In the meantime, Jason recommends switching bookmarks for QB45 to the new locations, http://www.qb45.netor http://www.qb45.org. We recommend that all QB webmasters do the same for their site links until a long-term plan for QB45 is found.

Thanks to Adigun Azikiwe Polack for giving the heads-up to V Planet about QB45's status.
