The awards haven't been handed out yet, but the online polls in Darkness Ethereal's website already telegraph who is going to win The Pure QBasic Mini RPG Contest held by DarkDread. With leading scores in the Best Graphics, Best Gameplay, and Best Technical Achievement category, BlueSckR's game Ninja Night should gather enough votes from the online poll to win the competition. The action-driven RPG tells the story of a female assassin named Scar, who is trying to get into the bottom of an unusual genetics experiment which has left one of her understudies dead. The entry (which was in it's demo phase at the time the contest ended) features forty minutes of gameplay, fluid animation, and intricate demo sequences. It's especially impressive considering the timeframe with which the game was completed, as well as some of the scrolling and animation that was done seamlessly using pure QB code.
