V
Planet is Back!
(6/24/2002) Everything you need to
know about the QB gaming site that nearly disappeared off the Internet
forever.
Many new QB games are ready and willing to win our reviewer's hearts.
After disappearing for three months, V
Planet is finally back online! But then again, it isn't necessarily an
entirely new layout of the website either-- thankfully, we found an old
ZIP disk copy of the entire website, dating back to an October 17, 2001
update.
While
having a backed-up copy of a site from an earlier date makes it a lot easier
to rebuild, continuing the site from an eight-month old update does cause
a few setbacks:
As of June 24, 2002:
-
The Affiliates list has been updated.
Bad links have been fixed, dead links have been removed, and we've added
some new sites frequently visited by the V Planet staff.
-
The Job Openings section has been updated.
Please check it out if you're interested in joining either V Planet!
QuickBasic Magazine or V Games, our in-house QB coding group.
-
Every referrence to the V Planet mailbox
throughout the website can now be tracked temporarily to the Editor's mailbox,
at
vancevelez@yahoo.com. This
took a tremendous amount of effort because this had to be done manually,
but measures have been installed so that it won't ever take this long again
to make contacting V Planet easier.
As of May 13, 2002:
-
Because this is an old backup of the site,
V Planet is currently missing about 8MB worth of reviews, downloads, and
articles. We're not exactly aware what we're missing (a Commander Keen
7 review is the only thing that popped up to mind). Some of the external
links on the website are probably outdated as well.
-
V Planet currently has no mailbox.
If you have questions, submissions, or concerns, please send them to the
Editor's mailbox at vancevelez@yahoo.com.
Keep in mind that this temporary submission file only has a capacity of
6.0MB, and none of the game submissions sent to this address have been
deleted yet.
-
Finally, if you're wondering about what's
going to happen with the QB Gaming Gold Awards and the QB Expo,
one likely scenario if either event should occur is that the dates for
the two events will be exchanged. That is, the QB Gaming Gold Awards will
become a Summer event while the QB Expo will become an event that takes
place during Holiday break. This is because the nomination process for
the QB Gaming Golds are practically done, whereas QB Expo development has
been on hold.
We thank all our readers for their outstanding
patience and we hope we can get back to reviewing QB games regularly as
soon as possible!
