V Planet (vplanet.cjb.net)
The first 100% QuickBasic game Review magazine

Thanks For Two at The Statto Site Awards!

(5/2/2001) We say thanks to the QB community for voting V Planet as the winner of two Statto Site Awards, including Best Game Review site and Best News Site!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you =)

The first annual Statto Site Awards finally came to a close on May 1st, with a day taken aside to count up nearly one-hundred ballots submitted by the people of the QB community in order to honor their favorite QB sites. After the ballots were counted, we are happy to announce that V Planet! QuickBasic magazine won in two categories.

The first category V Planet! QuickBasic Magazine won was in the Best Game Review site. Although there were only two nominees in this category, this was not an easy award to win because V Planet had tremendous competition in the form of fellow QB affiliate GBGames. GBGames, which was born just in mid-2000, had blossomed already with fifty QB game reviews, easily making it one of the fastest-growing QB sites ever. Both V Planet and GBGames had a great year thanks to the QB game programmers, who have been working very hard and diligently the last year to introduce new types of games to QuickBasic. As a promise, we hope that both V Planet and GBGames continue to cover all the QB games that can be found on the Internet.

Surprisingly though, V Planet also won in the Best News Site Category. V Planet managed to beat out both QBasicNews.com and Future Software in this category despite the fact that V Planet claims to be a 100% QuickBasic Game Review Magazine. We are humbled by this surprise and promise to continue our relentless coverage of QB news.

Other winners in the Statto Site Awards include the QBasic Top 50 for the Best QB Topsite category, QBasicnews.com for the Best Tutorial site, and a dominating performance from Future Software. Future Software, which is owned by Jorden Chamid, dominated with four awards including the Top Link Site, Top Download Site, Top Software Site, and the Best QBasic Site of 2001.

StattoNet attributed Future Software and V Planet's success in the Statto Site Awards to an aggressive campaign to rally Future Software and V Planet readers to the voting booths. "Jorden Chamid missed a clean sweep by one category. V-Planet! riled up its fans into voting for them (note: free advertising IS legal) and because the takeover of qbasicnews.com by Future Software happened after the ballot had been set Jorden missed out on the Best News Site category," explained StattoNet Webmaster Diamond Titan.

We thank you, our readers, for voting for V Planet in the Statto Site Awards. Our success in the Statto Site Awards would not be possible without your readership and your support, and we hope to continue earning that support by continuing our effort to deliver the latest QB game reviews and news.
